Team Addison was honored to be specially invited to the Faculty of Pharmacy at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) in Cairo, Egypt, to participate in the 3rd International MSA MWHO Conference—a simulation of the World Health Organization.
The conference, titled “A Glimpse into Life-Threatening Rare Diseases and Their Impact on Mental Health and Physical Disability”, aligns with Egypt’s National Health Strategy (2024–2030) and supports the presidential initiative “100 Million Healthy Lives.”
Goals of the conference:
- Raise awareness of rare diseases
- Strengthen healthcare systems
- Promote equity and the right to healthcare for all
Team Addison’s presence made a strong impression. The initiative was a major success:
- Two faculties and over 200 students at MSA University are now actively spreading awareness about Addison’s disease across Cairo and three other Middle Eastern countries.
- In Egypt alone, 10,000–12,000 people with Addison’s now have access to life-saving information via the Facebook group.
Even Egypt’s Ministry of Interior took notice, potentially paving the way for future support. With full-time dedication, the team could expand faster and save more lives.
The event featured inspiring lectures from:
- Dr. Nawal El Degwi – Founder of MSA University
- Dr. Heba El Laithy – Public health expert and advocate for social justice
- WHO representatives and pharmaceutical companies – sharing insights on rare disease treatments
Team Addison also appeared in two Egyptian TV interviews.
Grateful for the opportunity to share their mission, Team Addison continues to raise global awareness of Addison’s disease—offering hope, knowledge, and support.
❤️Special thanks to ambassador Emian Eman Sherien Mostafa for her tireless work, and to all the MSA students who joined the cause.
